Updated News (2/21/09)

TO:                 All Supporters and Friends of  The DSE 2009 Players Tournament

DATE:              February 21, 2009

It is with sadness and regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2009 Players Tournament.

The harsh and continuing winter has prevented many of our competitors from properly training and fully preparing for the event and a number of them have asked that we reschedule until later in the year.

The stagnant economy, too, has made it difficult for a number of the world top k9 trainers to commit to participating.

While we are saddened by this turn of events, we resolve at this time to focus our attention to this years Masters and respectfully call your attention to that event.

The cancellation of the Players further strengthens our conviction that Dog Sport must become professionalized. Once Dog Sport becomes entrenched and the handlers and their k9s properly acknowledged, events such as this will be impervious to the factors that have forced us to cancel this time.

We ask for your understanding and support and hope that the disappointment associated with this cancellation will further make us realize the importance of such events and propel us to hold the best Dog Sport Event the world has EVER experienced.

Thank you.

Welcome to The Players  2009 International Working Dog Sport Open Tournament

The resounding success of the Masters necessitates the next event: It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we announce The Players 2009 International Working Dog Sport Open Tournament.

This All-Breed, Tournament is open to any k9-handler team that has attained a 270 or higher at the VPG/IPO 3 Level within one year from the date of the event. It is the next chapter in the book that never ends but continuously reiterates the same theme: Elevating dog sport to the professional level to focus media attention on and financial attribution to the handler-k9 teams that show the best during the event.  Professional Dog Sport why not.

The cash prize for The Players’ Champion is $20,000.

High Tracking       $1,000.

High Obedience    $1,000.

High Protection    $1,000.

Additional cash prizes will be awarded and those will be announced in time.

We found that the Olympic-Style judging was appreciated by both competitors and spectators alike at our Masters.  We will continue to utilize this method of judging to determine our winner in the fairest way possible.

During the Players 2009 International Working Dog Sport Open Tournament we will also seek to increase awareness of and rally support in the fight against Diabetes and Cancer. Various fund-raising and educational activities will be held and we respectfully ask for your support for this most worthy of causes.

Please join us once again and support The Players 2009 International Working Dog Sport Open Tournament.  We look forward to seeing you there.
